James Michael Jones, 68, of Missouri, passed away on September 24, 2026. He was born on October 8, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri, to James Delmar Jones and Virginia Margaret (Swehla) Jones.
Jim was proud to be the father to Jamie Michelle (Josh) Kleyn, James Joseph (Erika) Jones, Michael Perry (Paige Stafford) Jones, and Daniel Alexander Jones. He was a proud grandfather of Ryan Kleyn (Maggie), Nathan Kleyn, Logan Kleyn, Hayden Jones, Tinnleigh Jones, Cora Jones, Evan Kleyn, Hadley Jones, Lincoln Jones, and Waylon Jones, and was looking forward to welcoming his first great-grandchild, due in April 2027.
Jim is survived by his children, grandchildren and girlfriend, Lisa Sanders, who was a devoted companion and source of care and support throughout the last few years, his sister, Nancy Heuer, whom he shared a close bond, and his other siblings Christine Moody, John Jones, Timothy Jones, and Kimberly Beaver, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Virginia Jones, and his sisters, Joyce Bogenpohl and Frances Dawes.
Jim grew up in the Catholic Church and continued to believe in God throughout his life. Though he did not regularly attend church in his later years, his belief in God remained a part of who he was.
Jim enjoyed the simple things in life, finding great joy in the outdoors with things like fishing, hunting. He also enjoyed watching westerns, and revisiting classic television shows like The Waltons. A true hippie at heart, he always appreciated a good laugh and loved watching comedy movies old and new. For 11 special years, Jim was rarely without his beloved dog, Sophie, a faithful companion and deeply loved member of his family.
Standing at an unforgettable 6’ 8” tall, Jim was quite literally a larger-than-life presence. But those who knew him will remember more than his height. They will remember his jokes, his sense of humor, and the laughter he brought into their lives.
Jim will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and all who knew and loved him. His family finds comfort in the hope that, by God’s grace, this goodbye is not forever.
