Republic, Missouri
Republic businessman and stock car racer Randall “Randy” Morgan passed
away September 14, following a ten-month battle with cancer. He was 67.
He is survived by his wife of over 43 years, Carol, son Eric, daughter-in-law
Ashli, and grandson Jet. Randy is also survived by his uncle Myron Morgan,
and Carol’s six siblings who loved him as a brother. His mother, Suzy
Morgan, followed Randy to heaven three days after his passing. He is
preceded in death by his father, Stanley Morgan, and his uncle, Rodney
Morgan.
Randy graduated from Willard High School in 1977. He attended Southwest
Missouri State University, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in 1982
and was an active fraternity member of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
He opened Advance Tire and Wheel, Republic, Missouri, in 1991 and
operated it until his retirement in 2010.
Randy spent almost 20 years in his racing career at Monett Motor Speedway,
Lebanon I-44 Speedway, and Bolivar Speedway. He raced car #41, which
was the same number as his high school football jersey. He supported the
Show-Me Racin Series and won more than 50 feature races in different
classes, finishing his career as a late model driver. Randy was also part of the
Midwest Latemodel Racing Association (MLRA) crew. After retiring from
stock car driving, he began kart racing. Randy loved racing his entire life and
never wanted to step away from it entirely. He formed lifelong friendships in
the racing community.
An avid fisherman, he was an early member of Lost Creek Bass Club. He
enjoyed both recreational and competitive fishing as well as all of his fishing
partners.
Randy was also a frequent golfer and a member of Twin Oaks Country Club.
He loved golfing with his friends, who he called his “Faith Family”. These
men and their wives shared some of the best travel times with Randy and
Carol, memories to be cherished forever.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Republic. His faith, family,
and friends were so important to him. He threw a wide net and captured many
friends in his life and was so loved. His big smile, vivacious personality, and
love of life will be missed. If we could all be so lucky to have such an
incredible impact in this world . . .
A come-and-go Celebration of Life will be held on October 7th from 5:00
p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, 443 N. Main Republic, MO
65738.
